Felipe Brugués
Welcome. I'm an Assistant Professor working on industrial organization, finance, development economics, and political economy: how firms behave in weak institutional environments.
I am an Assistant Professor at the Business School of the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM). Before joining ITAM, I spent a year as a postdoctoral researcher at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Starting July 2027, I will be an Assistant Professor in Economics at the University of Toronto.
I received my Ph.D. in Economics from Brown University in 2021. My research sits at the intersection of industrial organization, finance, development economics, and political economy, with a focus on firm behavior and agency frictions in weak institutional environments.
Alongside economics, I keep an active studio practice as an amateur visual artist.
